Long gone are the days of getting married at the church in your hometown. It’s becoming more popular to host your wedding in your favorite city, whether it be close to home or an international getaway. If you’re wanting to tie the knot at a destination far away, this blog will give you a simple guide on how to plan an out of state wedding, featuring Ashleigh and Andy who got married in Sedona, Arizona!
One of the perks of having a destination wedding is you can choose when you want to travel. If you can, try to travel in the off season of the destination you are wanting to elope to. Avoiding the peak tourist season will make life easier, trust me. Easier parking, less people in the background of your photos, cheaper airfare – the list goes on and on. Ashleigh and Andy chose to elope right before Sedona’s busy summer season. It was perfect because we were able to go to a normally pretty busy hiking area, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves!
An out of state wedding takes on a lot of additional travel time, so why not make it a whole vacation rather than a weekend event?! Get there a few days early, soak in the sights to see, and relax before your wedding day. There’s lots of magic to be felt when creating fun experiences right before the wedding. You’ll want to build the excitement prior to devoting your “I Do’s” so that this time of your life will be UNFORGETTABLE, especially in Sedona where Ashleigh was mesmerized. “Go a few days early, make sure you hike as much as possible and see everything! It’s so amazing!!”
Depending on your budget and priorities, the list of vendors can be overwhelming! This isn’t a must, but finding vendors you can trust that have a list of preferred vendors is suuuper helpful. “A really big part of the reason it was so stress-free was thanks to Emma,” said Ashleigh. “She was absolutely instrumental in getting all of my vendors lined up. Everything was perfect!” If you need help that extends outside of me capturing your wedding, I gotchu boo! I have a list of vendors I love working with, that I trust will make sure your day is absolute magic.
Sedona is such a magical place to be, why not make it unforgettable by getting married there. If you’re dreaming of getting married here on the red desert sands, let’s chat! I would love to be a part of making your big day even more memorable!
